REMOUNT AND REFURBISHMENT SERVICES Some manufacturers will only remount modules that they have manufactured. However, there are manufacturers that not only do not remount their own modules, but also "farm-out" any remounts they may obtain to independent remount shops or their dealers. Beware of these hidden "sub-contracts." Since you do not have the opportunity to inspect these facilities prior to awarding the business, problems can occur with these "job shops" since they typically have no direct contact or responsibility to the consumer (you.) Items such as poor quality or warranty problems can be very difficult to resolve since the firm that did the work may not provide any written warranty or even be in business a year or two after the remount. Unless affiliated with a particular manufacturer, most remount shops do not have to adhere to good engineering practices, do not have independent review of their manufacturing processes, nor do they have access to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts and replacement components. The recent failures of some of these remount shops have created an atmosphere of suspicion among EMS providers about remounting.
